FAQs
What Is Epoxy flooring?
Epoxy coatings are a mixture of resin and a hardening chemical that creates a smooth and even finish. Epoxy flooring is a coating that can be applied to concrete to create a durable, waterproof, slip resistant, and stain resistant surface. Some of our flooring options are UV resistant and antimicrobial. Apply to garages, basements, pool decks, industrial spaces, retail locations, restaurants, schools, modern office buildings, modern living rooms, showrooms, hospitals, and more.
Where can epoxy flooring be installed?
Epoxy can be installed anywhere with existing concrete. We’ve installed our epoxy and polyaspartic coatings to garages, basements, pool decks, industrial spaces, retail locations, restaurants, schools, modern office buildings, modern living rooms, showrooms, hospitals, and more.
Do the Floors need to be prepared before installing epoxy?
Professional preparation is the first step in ensuring a long-lasting strong bond, as well as a smooth and beautiful finish. We will repair cracks, pits, gouges, and spalling. If needed, we will shot blast or grind your concrete to level the flooring and ensure previous coatings are fully removed.
How long does it take to install epoxy flooring?
Installation time varies on the type of epoxy you choose and how large an area we must coat. With a solid color basic coating your floor will cure and dry the same day—but this does not include prep time. Prep time can vary greatly depending on the condition of your existing concrete. Most of our projects take 1 to 2 days to prep, clean, coat, and cure before you can move items back in.
How long does epoxy flooring last?
When properly prepped, professionally installed, and regularly maintained epoxy floor covering will last longer than most other flooring options. In harsh industrial environments, your flooring will last 8 to 10 years. In your office and moderate commercial environments (garages, basements, schools, hospitals, showrooms) your flooring can last up to 20 years if it is properly sealed every 5 years or so. With proper cleaning, maintenance, and resealing they can last 15 to 30 years in your home.
Are epoxy floors slippery?
It’s a common misconception that epoxy concrete coatings are slippery. This is easy to understand because epoxy has a seamless and glossy surface. Generally, epoxy is very safe to walk on when it’s clean and dry with similar grip to a basketball court. If you are concerned about skid resistance, especially if the floor will get wet such as in a commercial setting or garage, we recommend a slip-resistant additive, epoxy quartz flooring, or epoxy flake flooring which all offer a textured surface.
